Mahatma Gandhi once said, "Be the change you want to see in the world". The saying "If you want something done, you have to do it yourself”, relates very closely to this quote. What Gandhi was trying to say was that if you want things to change, you must first start with yourself. In our world, people constantly complain about things and about how much they wish certain things would change, but no one is ever willing to make a change themselves.
The point that Gandhi was trying make was that if you see something wrong, instead of complaining, do something about it. Gandhi wanted to drill into our heads the importance of taking initiative. When you notice something isn’t right, don’t wait around for someone else to step up. Instead, take the initiative to do something about it yourself.
I feel that Gandhi’s quote is extremely powerful since there are so many people in this world that lacks initiative. Everyone wants things to change but no one wants to be the first one. For example, recently in my city there has been an up rise in people against bullying. All of these people speak on how bullying is wrong, but have been in situations where they could have stepped in but simply chose not to. Instead of standing by and watching a victim get bullied, people should step up and “Be the change you want to see in the world”.

Ghandi had it right when he said this. We should all take initiative to change ourselves before we go changing something or someone else. I have been there when someone was being attacked by others but I always say something back. I know I don’t do it in the appropriate manner but at least I say something not like other s who just stare and laugh. I hope more people thought like that.
ReplyDeleteYou chose a remarkable qoute for this assignment and you wrote on it very well. Gandhi's qoute should be well known and most of all, practiced. Change is the only way to help the world around us and we can't depend on someone else to start the chain reaction of change first so we can follow behind. We as individuals, should be the domino that causes the chain to start. You my friend are the domino for great blogging to come :)
ReplyDeleteThis is a great quote to start with because many can relate to the quote and have an understanding of what Gandhi did in his lifetime. This quote can inspire many people and enlighten them. For me, I know I may complain about a lot of different things but I do not do anything about it. Bullying was a great example to use because it is common everywhere and no one does anything about it.
ReplyDeleteThe quote you chose by Gandhi is very insperational. I see many people.complain on how they want to chnage things but aren't willing to do something about it, and just keep complaining. I admit that I have done this a couple of times. In the end, I try to make an attempt to try to change it because if I don't do anything about it, then who will? Good quote kaila(:
